The 10th Anniversary of the “Information, Technology, and Society in Asia”(ITASIA)Program

Mar. 6, 2018

This year marks 10 years since the establishment of the “Information, Technology, and Society” (ITASIA) Program in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies (GSII) at the University of Tokyo. As one of the first English-language graduate programs at the University of Tokyo, the ITASIA Program has played a leading role in the globalization of the university curriculum.

In its 10 years, the ITASIA Program has admitted 96 Master’s degree program students and 37 Ph.D. students from over 25 different countries. While many of our Master’s students have gone on to successful careers in industry, others have advanced to Ph.D. study at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. We are proudest of our eight Ph.D. students who have graduated to become top scholars in their respective fields.

With the number of applicants growing every year, the future of the ITASIA Program looks bright. We would like to thank our many students over the last decade for their contribution to building one of the most unique programs for interdisciplinary study of communication, international relations, and media.

To commemorate our 10th anniversary, we are pleased to announce the launch of our newly redesigned webpage. Thanks to Dean SAKURA Osamu for his support for the redesign and Professor NAKAO Akihiro for the use of the drone video on the landing page.
