ANNOUNCEMENT: Review and Correction of Application Materials
Testing requirements: Unless you are currently enrolled in the ITASIA Program or are graduates of the ITASIA M.A.S. program applying for the ITASIA Ph.D. program within two years of graduation, you must take all the required tests (GRE and TOEFL iBT/IELTS) in advance and ensure that the official scores are sent to the designated institution on time. The GRE is mandatory. TOEFL iBT/IELTS requirement does not apply to native speakers of English. For details, refer to the Application Guidelines and FAQs. Please make the necessary arrangements as early as possible, before beginning the online application procedures.
Start your application at the following URL:
After agreeing to important notes, disclaimers, and privacy policy, you must complete the Application Form (Basic). Because the form times out after 60 minutes, we recommend that you first review all required items, then prepare your answers and necessary files in advance.
As part of the form, you must confirm the End User List (EUL) published by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). You will be asked whether any current or past organization you belong to appears on this list.
Before filling out the online form, please ensure that the page has just been opened and that it is not opened in another tab or window of the same web browser to avoid unexpected timeout and data loss.
When you have successfully submitted the form, your own Receipt Number and the URL of “My Page” will be displayed. Make sure to record both items correctly and securely as the screen instructs. Please never let others know your Receipt Number.
Please do not start your application process from scratch again once you receive your Receipt Number. If you need to change the submitted content, please use the My Page instead, as explained below.
If you login to the My Page, you can check or edit your entered contents in the Application Form (Basic) and upload/reupload required documents by the application deadline. You can access the My Page throughout the whole admissions process even after the application deadline. Please remember to log out when you have finished a task.
To check your Application Form (Basic), please click the “Check/Edit application form items” button. To exit the edit mode without making changes, use your web browser’s Back button. This Check/Edit button will disappear after the application deadline. Please save the displayed content to your device beforehand if necessary.
Carefully review the Admissions Guidelines to confirm which documents are required for you. Prepare them in advance, then upload all documents through the My Page by the application deadline.
Please note that each upload item can accept only one file. Re-uploading will overwrite the previous file. Please prepare a single PDF file containing all documents relevant to each specific item beforehand. Please confirm that your “One sample of representative research work/writing in English” is a text-searchable PDF file. It must not be a scanned copy.
Unless you are currently enrolled in the ITASIA Program or are graduates of the ITASIA M.A.S. program applying for the ITASIA Ph.D. program within two years of graduation, you are required to register two academic referees who can provide recommendations regarding your scholarly ability and potential for graduate study. The My Page provides detailed instructions on how to register them. Contact your referees in advance to confirm their willingness to cooperate. Once you complete their registration, each referee will receive an automatic request email. Repeat this step twice to register two referees. Registration must be completed early, well before the application deadline, to allow sufficient time for referees to prepare and submit their evaluations.
Your submission is not saved or sent to you. If you wish to keep a record, take and save screenshots before clicking “Submit,” as no confirmation screen is provided.
Important: If you need to modify any information after submitting this form, please submit it again with all correct information. In such cases, your referee may receive multiple emails. It is your responsibility to explain the situation to your referee.
When a referee has submitted their evaluation, you will receive a confirmation email (note: the content of the evaluation is not included).
The My Page also shows detailed instructions on how to complete and submit the Application Form (Detailed). Read the explanations carefully and complete this step by the application deadline.
Please note that this form does not allow you to save drafts or view a confirmation before final submission. Your final submission is not sent to you, either. To keep a record, take and save screenshots before clicking “Submit” at the bottom. We also recommend preparing your responses in a separate file beforehand and pasting them into this form.
